The governance of Nemo Arts is through a board of dedicated trustees. The directors have legal responsibilities both as company directors and charity trustees. The aim is for the board to represent a wide cross-section of mental health and arts sector interests across Glasgow.

Michel Syrett – Chair
Michel Syrett is an award winning business writer with over 20 book titles to his name. An expert on charity governance, he was a member of the Working Party set up by the NCVO and Charity Commission on Trustee Development in the 1990s. He has a bipolar diagnosis and writes and conducts research into mental health issues, being both a founding trustee and second chair of Bipolar UK and a founding member of the Lived Experience Research Collective at The Mental Health Foundation in Glasgow.

Beth Macmaster – Vice Chair
Beth is the Children and Gender-Based Violence Justice Lead within the Criminal Justice Division in the Scottish Government. Previously she was the National Coordinator for Independent Prison Monitoring at HM Inspectorate of Prisons for Scotland, developing and implementing a new system for monitoring treatment, conditions and human rights in Scotland’s prisons. Beth has worked in the justice system for over 12 years, across the community and prisons. Her background is in applied social research.

Kimberley Barker – Treasurer
Kimberley has been a volunteer in a variety of third sector organisations and charities for 33 years. She is currently Vice Chairperson of Glen Oaks Housing Association which she has been a board member of since 2009 and was Treasurer for over 10 years. Kimberley has significant Board experience in Governance, Finance, Risk, Audit and Staffing. She also has experience of running a youth work facility which she helped set up and run for 10 years. Kimberley suffers from CPtsd and resulting mental health difficulties and came to Nemo Arts originally as a service user.

Monica Reilly – Trustee
Monica is an HM Inspector with Education Scotland. She has previously worked with children and young people with additional support needs and has over 25 years experience in education.

Linzi Cingan – Trustee
Linzi is a senior marketing professional with over 25 years of experience across various sectors. Her expertise spans marketing strategy, customer engagement and business transformation. She strongly advocates for the benefits of the creative arts in improving mental health and brings a specific commercial perspective to the Board.
